if you're an amateur photog in san francisco with some work you'd like to share, we want to publish your photos
on urban apertura.
our site is for photographers to publish their shots and share their favorite scenes of san francisco. we will consider photos of the surrounding bay area as well, but we are mostly looking for pictures taken in the City.
"why would I?" you ask? when you submit a photo to us, it will be reviewed by our pannel and we will provide you feedback on the photo if selected. also once published, your photo will be viewed and commented on by our urban apertura community. and you will be able to display your URL so folks can check out your other work. plus it is pretty cool to get a photo published in an online journal.
/how to?
for now we have a very basic process for photo submission...email. we hope to launch a new interface for this later in 2010. for now follow these instructions and guidelines:
1 files need to be in jpeg format preferably not larger than 3-4 meg
2 please do not submit more than one photo at a time, or if a series then 2-3 is ok
3 with your photo include: photo title, the name you want to appear in the credits, a brief description of the shot, and if you have one, a URL to your other photos. it is helpful if you include the technical specs of the photo as well.
4 it may take a day...or week for a photo to be reviewed and for us to determine if you are penske urban apertura material (seinfeld reference)
5 if we like your work we will notify you when it will go live. your
photo will be on the front page of our site for between 1 and many
days, and when you're bumped all your work will be found in our archives
6 if you don't get published, most likely our loss, but feel free to try again!
- a - by clicking submit you are certifying that any photo you send to us is your original work and has never been copyrighted, or if copyrighted you certify that you are the sole copyright owner
- b - by clicking submit you acknowledge that it is your sole responsibility to obtain a written release from any recognizable person in a submitted photo
- c - and obviously, by clicking the publish button, you are authorizing urban apertura to post your photo to our site and keep it in our archives
