baker beach had some big waves this weekend. not surprising because it was the weekend of the mavericks surf contest down in half moon bay.

I started a new category today called "world wednesdays". to break the week of san francisco shots each wednesday we will post a photo from past travels. took this photo last august from matemwe beach on zanzibar ...no snow here!

ps, still waiting for my first collaborator to submit a photo of san francisco for posting here, any takers?

is this thing on? ok, this is the first post of the re-launch of urban apertura. and not exactly starting with a photo of san francisco. oh well, this is from the weekend camping trip to the ventana wilderness near carmel. in calinfornia we don't see a lot of fall colors.

ok here I am in the other room in the basement of the building where I work. funny how I live in one of the most photographed cities in the world and I prefer the basement. that's what the rain will do I guess. one more basement photo tomorrow and then I need to re-commit to getting back outside!

from trip to mendocino a couple weeks ago. had to get a photo with some sun in it, all this rain is getting a little old.

in the spooky basement of where I work there is a room that is like a time capsule with old cabinets, files and fixtures.

ok, I know, everyone has pictures of the painted ladies (for those who are not aware, the "ladies"are the 6 victorians). however, rare to catch them with such storm clouds. I work fairly close so gave it a quick look after lunch.

but we do need the rain (and snow). notice the transamerica building just manages to make an appearance.

well, turns out someone is excited for valentines day. though the highlight of this picture is the animals on the left, looking to already be in the mood.
